The ZA312 is a
popular battery for in-canal and in- ear hearing aids. All manufacturers colour
code this battery brown for easy identification.
What makes a Zinc Air battery such as the ZA312 unique is that it uses oxygen
from the atmosphere. The ZA312 has a small hole in the case that allows air into
the battery, which is used as part of the chemical reaction. The ZA312 battery
is not activated until the plastic seal is removed uncovering this hole. Typical
applications are hearing aids, pagers and personal medical instruments.
